Hon Jeremy Corbyn MP and UK Labour Party Leadership candidate,has slammed down Tony Blair,former Labour British Prime Minister saying he ‘led us into a disastrous illegal war in Iraq. Jeremy Corbyn, radical left wing UK politician, hit back after former British Prime Minister Blair said” those whose hearts are with Mr Corbyn Should get a transplant” according to Mirror reports.
According to the public opinion poll of Labour’s Leadership race published today, among the four candidates,Corbyn leads the race with forty three percent in the first round while Andy Burnham whose slogan is ”Be part of the Change and shadow Labour Health Secretary is polled second with just twenty six percent.
The YouGov poll for The Times newspaper indicated that shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper,placed third with twenty percent while Liz Kendall in eleven percent.
Speaking on last Sunday Labour’s Leadership Hustings debate in Camden town hall in London,Jeremy Corbyn said ”I have been proud to be a trade union rep, a trade union official,a local councillor and labour MP for the last thirty years. My purpose in every role has been to share that power, providing a platform to the voiceless,to stand up with them.”
Hon. Corbyn asked party members for their support to become Labour leader,indicating that I want that role for the same reason – to work with you to right the many wrongs we see around us. He said that ” Our party must become a social movement again as it was founded stand up to injustice,and too often we have lost our way,ignored our supporters or been cowed by powerful commercial interests and the press.
Jeremy Corbyn pointed out that austerity policies are harming people’s life chances and taking away opportunities,we must reject the notion that the journey to prosperity tramples over people – and become an anti – austerity movement.You cannot build a fair economy by casting people aside,no leader has a monopoly on wisdom,so we need to organise like a social movement too,building on our party’s unique base which is our trade union link to millions of working people,our quarter of a million members,and growing band of registered supporters.
He said:”Together we can build a fairer Britain,democratising the party so members are at heart of decision making,campaigning in our communities so that Labour will be made a social movement again,creating a prosperous society,address Britain’s wealth divide,prioritise our planet – by investing in the clean energy of the future,stop nuclear weapons – for huge investment in manufacturing,industry,jobs and skills and above all celebrate multi – culturalism and its social and economic advantages.
Concluding his speech at the well attended Labour Party Leadership Hustings,the left wing MP Corbyn stressed that” Ours is a movement to give people hope – the hope of a better world,with less injustice and more equality,peace and solidarity.Together we need to agree policies that will achieve those goals and then campaign for them,winning more power over to these principles – and giving them hope.”
